Felted Flowers

Leeann Kroetsch  is our instructor at the Workshop being held on July 30, 2017, in the Waldemere Fire Station Upstairs Classroom from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Join Leeann for the Felted Flower Workshop where you will learn wet felting techniques which will enable you to work with various types of wool, silk, and specialty fibers, such as bamboo.  You will develop a comfort level and understanding of wool fiber properties, material shrinkage, and experiment with surface design techniques.  The class is beginner friendly, but is also suitable for more experiences felters who want to further develop their skills.

In the felted workshop you will create a decorative flower which you may use to embellish a sculpture, as part of a floral arrangement or as a wearable art piece.  Leeann will provide the basic tools you will require to complete the project.  

You can purchase a kit from Leeann for $30.00 or bring the following items from home:

  • 6-8 ounces of merino combed top roving in two to three complimentary colors.
  • Specialty fibers for embellishment:  Silk, bamboo, novelty yarns, Angelina, wool locks.
  • Decorative beads, crystals or buttons for the center of the flower
Also bring the following:
  • Paper/note pad and pen/pencil
  • Beach or large bath towel
  • Pool noodle (available from the Dollar Tree)
  • Waterproof Apron (optional)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and roll item while felting
  • Exposure to soapy water (bring rubber gloves if you are sensitive to soap products)
